David Viands(Jefferson HS) named President of the WVADA and Brian Fisher (Lewis County HS) named President-Elect. Leadership of the WVADA was re-established as former President, Dan Comer moved to a position in the WVSSAC office.See story below:

Holly Hawkins of Lincoln HS and Trey Stewart of Hampshire HS joins the WVADA Board of Directors. Holly will serve as Region 4 Director and Trey will be a member at-large. We welcome these two fine servant leaders!

WVSSAC ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR  Parkersburg, WV— July 11, 2023 — Mr. Dan Comer joins the WVSSAC as Assistant Executive Director in July 2023. He received his BA in Physical Education and Safety from West Liberty State College and his MA and Educational Certificate from West Virginia University. Dan is a member of the WVADA and NIAAA where he earned his CAA. Dan served 38 years in Berkeley County Schools as a teacher, coach, and school and county administrator. His track teams won two WV AAA State Championships at Hedgesville. He was Spring Mills High School’s first athletic director and served his final two years as county coordinator for Health/Safety/Athletics. Comer earned WVSSAC and WVSACA Coach of the Year honors in 1995, 2003, and 2010. He earned the NIAAA Award of Merit in 2022 and the WVADA Athletic Director of the Year in 2023. As an experienced and well-respected leader in education, his experience, training, and knowledge will be an asset to the WVSSAC leadership. 

Thanks to all of our awesome WV Athletic Directors who attended this Years Spring Conference! We had a record setting year and welcomed 21 1st time attendees into the fold. • Ron Allen to receive Distinguished Service Award

  Ron Allen, retired Athletic Director of Hedgesville High School and current secretary of the WVADA, will receive the Bruce Whitehead Distinguished Service Award at the National AD Conference in Orlando in December. The WVADA Board of Directors and membership congratulate Ron Allen for this well-deserved recognition!
